Five on Friday! September.

Lets get this five on Friday started!

1. Sophie's First Seawall.  Nicholas & I used to frequent the seawall every weekend or so pre-Sophie, but since having her, we had yet to introduce her to one of our favorite spots in Vancity.  Since we had the last long weekend of summer, we decided it was a must.

I must note that we also found a baby friendly patio (we weren't even the only family with a baby), and it felt so great to be able to bring Sophie out with us, and not only order a drink - but food too!  I think Sophie was so caught up with the boats going by, to get fussy on the patio.

2. Sophie's First Wave.  Don't get me wrong, we bring her to the ocean every week; but where we have visited don't offer ocean waves.  This weekend, Sophie got her first dose of real waves.  Daddy was there to keep her warm, as we strolled along the seawall.

3. Merics BBQ Bash.  Meric, one of my best friends, held his usual end of summer dominoes/ Jamaican backyard party bash this past weekend, filled with reggae music and home cooked Caribbean food.  Nick snapped this pic of Sophie assisting me in holding my beer, which I think is priceless.

4.  Sophie's First Lionel Richie Romper!  I'm more than excited that I ordered a custom locally made Lionel Richie romper for her.  It's 12-18 months, so its still quite big on her, but I'm so excited for this addition to her wardrobe.  Now the 3 of us can be Lionel dorks and all go out in our Lionel outfits :)

5. Texas Food.  I've Been living off of nachos and cowboy caviar all week.  And whisky.  I haven't been to Texas in about a year, but seriously.  I'm all about them tacos.

6. My Backyard.  I know it's five on Friday, but seriously - our drought just went from stage 4 to stage 2 and we have greenery again.  I'm kind of exited to just chillax in my backyard again, while Sophie explores all things green.

Throwback - One Year Ago

Oh Sophia, where has the time gone!  I feel like you are growing up so fast in the fact that you get so excited to sit up like a big girl beside momma.  And the fact that you can now play with your first toy, Sophie the Giraffe.

Last year around this time, our beautiful little Sophia was being created inside of me - although we didn't actually realize I was pregnant until the beginning of April.  So what was life like before Sophia?  Here are ten things that happened around this time last year.

1. We set off our love lantern at the Lunar Fest for CNY.  We both wrote wishes for our love, and set it off high in the sky.

2. We went shooting up on the mountain.  Our first time shooting in the snow!

3. We would pick up a new craft beers to try, and head over to false creek to our secret spot and chillax in the chilly sun.

4. We put up our love lock! And threw our keys in the waters of Vancouver.

5. We would go on our weekly Thai dates and devour our red curry duck and chilli prawns with grilled asparagus.

6. Nick became an official Canadian Citizen!

7.  We both travelled lots for work.  I was in Vegas, Columbus & San Antonio and Nicholas was in Banff and the Kootenays.

8. We would walk the seawall on sunny days.

9. We bought a juicer and I started making juices from scratch.  Like extra spicy kale & ginger Caesars.

10.  We completed our Dine out Vancouver passport with the Sequoia Group and got free vineyard passes for the 2014 season at Quails Gate.  But then we found out I was pregnant and never got to use them, however we had some amazing brunches with great views as a result.

Friday Fab Five - Summer Daze

Ocean breeze, patio drinks, boating, seawall strolls, barbeques... how I miss you!  For this Friday fab 5, I'm dedicating it to my 5 favorite things to do in Vancity, once the weather turns up.

1. Seawall Strolls - The Vancouver seawall is 22km (13.7 miles) of pure ocean bliss.  This is where every outdoorsy Vancouverite usually flocks to on a sunny weekend for a walk/jog/cycle/skate.  I feel like the seawall will always have my heart, as I've spent my whole life absorbing its beauty.  This is the place to catch gorgeous sunsets, stop at random beaches or patios along the way, or watch the city lights and mountain backdrops.  I cant wait to pack up that baby stroller and introduce Sophia to this Vancouver gem soon :)

2. Vancouver Daycation at Lighthouse Park!  This might be different now that we have Sophie, but Ill just slap that baby Bjorn carrier on daddy, as we spend the day hiking and soaking up the sun.

3. Barbeques!!!! Whether at a friends house for a pool party, or a bbq at the beach - this is something I miss all year round!

4. Sunny Patio Drinks.  Nothing beats patio relaxation in the summer - preferably by the water.  This is a must have for me after a day of activities.  Cold beer, white wine or sangria and I'm in heaven.

5. Summertime Events - Whether its the watching the sensational fireworks at the Celebration of Light, indulging in fancy grilled cheese sandwiches & mint lemonade at the weekend Food Truck Festival, catching a Caps game, dancing the day away in the beer garden at Caribbean Days or Latin Days, and everything in between - there is always an event happening every weekend.  It's the perfect place to meet up with friends, and soak up what the city has to offer.

Happy Friday darlings!!
